This episode starts off okay — another ships crew is discovered turned to salt crystals, its captain is down on the backward planet below. Turns out it is an exact parallel of Earth if the US and USSR had nuked each other. The remaining societies continue their feud, but they’ve adapted to a planet of hardcore radiation, so they don’t turn to salt. Or something — it isn’t very clear. And while this sounds like a premise with potential, it is a complete disaster. And there are like three drawn out fight scenes — which make me think they had to edit out other stuff that made no sense. And it ends with Shatner giving a dramatic reading of the US Constitution, inspiring Shatner impersonators for years to come.
