A controversial episode. Is it homophobic? I don’t think Saul Rubinek is playing queer — I just think he’s having fun with the character. (If anything, he is also “Heeb”-ing it up, that’s a velour yarmulke on his head, ya know!) He’s captured Data for his little menagerie of playthings (echoes of The Menagerie and The Squire of Gothos) and Data has to fight back. That’s the controversial part: will Data kill?
