It’s amazing how charming this movie is given its subject (broke Tribeca girl with cool clothes). Like Tarantino, this flick spawned a million horrible clones. . .but at the time it seemed unique. It’s kind’ve a shame how Parker Posey slipped off the face of the Earth — she’s terrific. God knows if the movie would even be watchable if it were someone else in the lead, ’cause the writing ain’t that great and the low budget certainly shows. (Except for the cool clothes.) I’m a little horrified that this movie is 10 years old. I saw this at the Angelika with a visiting summer student from Waco, TX who actually whispered “what’s a fallafel?” to me during the screening.
