Trust me on this. “Airport” is a good film. Not a “good film,” but a good film. Erase from your mind whatever knowledge you have about the three sequels, about the Z-A-Z parody, about 70s disaster flicks (which certainly have their place) in general. This is a good movie — a tense procedural about one rough night in a busy airport and the people who keep it running. There is a lot of love story filler (most of it incredibly sexist — the airplanes on the runway are less objectified than the women in this film) but the acting and characters are interesting enough to keep you engaged. See it with an open mind.
