A few days ago Ann & I went to the Prospect Park Bandshell to see Rickie Lee Jones. We met up with Marcy and Marcy’s friend whose name I’ve forgotten. Rickie sounded terrific (accompanied by Rob Wasserman on bass and a man whose name sounded like John Tennissock on guitar) and was very funny, as well. She interrupted her own song because she was afraid she’s kill a bug that was walking across her piano if she played the next chord. She also chastised people for walking around too much during one of her slower, more tender songs. She also covered not one, but two classic rock staples: “Sunshine Superman” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” Less crowded and less ferocious than a Central Park Summerstage crowd — but, oy! — so many children. And they’re all so loud!
