If “Goodbye Mr. Chips” met “The Sixth Sense” during the Spanish Civil War and was drawn as a “graphic novel,” it would look something like this. Loaded with symbolism (unexploded bombs, dangling scissors, ingots of gold) and spooky tone, it is a shame this well acted film ultimately falls flat. Ann liked it quite a bit, but I guess I just don’t dig supernatural stuff.
