Guillermo Del Toro, you vex me. Theoretically, I should love you. But I’ve never once fully enjoyed one of your films. Why do you think I’ve still resisted Pan’s Labrynth? Because I’m afraid I won’t like it. Much like I didn’t like Hellboy, which has many cool looking moments (and, if I may, rad costumes and stuff) but is a complete fucking disaster in the story department. Indeed, this movie kinda blows. I better stop thinking about it, lest I downgrade it from the “gentleman’s C.”
