As of now it is an A-. I’ll be seeing it twice more before the official release. We’ll see if my tune changes.
Anyway, I shit out a lot of reviews, but I actually put some thought and care into the one I wrote for Trek.

Oh no. I can’t believe you liked this garbage. The whole alternate timeline whoopla was just a rouse to cover up the fact that the people who wrote the screenplay were not really interested in Star Trek whatsoever. They just wanted to create a generic movie with lots of explosions and fighting. The story does not mesh with any of the series or the movies at all. I guess if you’re the kind of person who like Die Hard, go ahead and watch this load of rubbish.
John, While I agree that the whole portion of remoulding a very firm and strong universe was unneeded, I found it to be a refreshing change of pace as not everything in Star Trek was exciting. I still find myself struggling to watch any episode that deals with Wesley Crusher, child prodigy. Although the one where he was impaled through the back was entertaining. But I digress, This alternate reality schtick probably saved the entire franchise as Nemesis with it’s killing off of Data and other technical whoopsies and Enterprise with UPN’s innate ability to death slot it into oblivion weren’t enough to help it stay on a firm foundation. There is still plenty of opportunity for the timeline to be re-integrated with itself, but then there’s the whole mirror universe deal and those stories interest me. Who cares if it wasn’t what you expected it to be? It brought in a lot of fresh blood, new fans to support us and as a result, they will now willingly watch the rest of the movies and television series and gain an all new respect for it that they had not considered doing out of fear of being harassed about. For once, in a long time, it is publicly cool to admit to being a Trekkie/Trekker and it’s a change I welcome. I’ve been able to wear a uniform in public and not be teased or made fun of. People actually gave me compliments.
This actor cannot EVER be spock. His eyes are not intense enough.
