Now this is an odd episode. It starts off really lame – another example of beaming down to a planet and unwittingly breaking some odd law and on trial for your life. But in this case it is doubly lame, because B’Elanna is on trial for having a “violent thought.” I can buy that the planet’s population has, in time, been able to sweep their minds of violent thoughts – but once B’Elanna is accused of having one, shouldn’t she start having more and more? As well as Captain Janeway as she is down their fighting for her freedom?

Things take an odd turn, though, toward the end as we meet a black market trading in off-world violent thoughts. That’s pretty cool. And that Tuvok must defeat them using his own dark, secluded, angry parts of his brain. Doubly cool.
