Whatever your opinion of Israel there is no denying this is an amazing moment in history. Just as the French (it was a French plane) are ready to give in to terrorist demands the IDF says fuck you and successfully completes the most badass straight-out-of-a-video-game rescue mission ever. . .so much so that *three* movies have been made about it. This one is very straight forward and lacks any subtlety but is notable for two great performances: Yaphett Kotto as Idi Amin Dada and Peter Finch as Yizahk Rabin. Is it just that because these world leaders were before my time, or were world leaders really that much cooler back then? Horst Bucholz as the Baader-Meinhoff PLO agent with the heart of gold is quite remarkable as well.
