Remarkable on every level. Does Montana really look like that? Still? More remarkable than Jed Bartlett’s performance is Sissy Spacek’s. Her passivity is fascinating — inscrutable, but not phoney. I used to think this was Malick’s lesser film, but I now see it on par with the others.
