Kerry Douglas Dye is going to pipe up any minute with a plot hole and, yes, he’s kinda right. But, that one little problem aside, this is a damned good movie. It’s a friggin’ movie. It isn’t a novel or miniseries, ya dig? And it is pretty remarkable. References to NAFTA and Superfund aside, it holds up incredibly well.
I still get misty-eyed when I think about the ending: Benicio finally at his baseball game, as the soundtrack cues Brian Eno and the credits roll unobtrusively at the bottom of the screen. One of the great endings in cinema, really.
