There’s nothing Johnny Depp can’t do. This movie is very enjoyable, but people who hate musicals (or, for that matter, R rated slashers) won’t dig it too much. Great score, great look, fun stuff.

I love musicals, Tim Burton, and Johnny Depp. But I walked out of this — Sondheim’s music drives me bonkers. Would it have been a crime to write a tune I can tap my foot or snap my fingers to? And what’s the point of a motion picture musical without any dancing? Hell, Hairspray was more fun than this… but for the year’s best musical, look no further than Colma : The Musical.
