Watched this one again, to compare with True Grit. In actuality, the film it is most like is Blood Simple, and not just because of Texas.
It nails the nightmarish dread of ever-increasing complication, confusion and ultimate overwhelming nature of a bad situation. A tad violent, perhaps, but I’m not alone in loving it.
