This movie’s been made 100 times before (mostly by Sidney Lumet himself) but if you are in the mood for this sort of thing, this is a fine example. I’ve only seen the TV show “Law and Order” a few times, but it always feels rushed and with too much plot shoved in your face. And the New York-ness always seems bogus. Here you can predict the ending by the second reel, but the performances by Andy Garcia, Ian Holm and James Gandolfini keep you engrossed. Also, a hilarous star turn by Ron Leibman as District Attorney Morgenstern (Morgenthau?) and a fun bit part by Richard Dreyfuss as a Kunstler-Kuby style lawyer keeps everything legit.
