Vedek Bareil – you just weren’t made for this world. Time has dispatched you, mostly so Kira Nerys and Odo could get their romance going (it tested much better.) And Major Kira, you haven’t had it easy. Growing up under Cardasian occupation, living as a bureaucrat with the soul of a freedom fighter (or terrorist, if you swing that way.) Regardless, your new even more manly haircut doesn’t disguise that underneath you are just a lonely girl – about to get lonelier. Kai Winn, played by Nurse Ratchet, is awful in this episode – but the Internet tells me she was very sick at the time and had to lie down between takes. So I give her a pass. This is meant to be a Dr. Bashir episode, but it is Kira who gets the final scene. Oh, Nerys, stay strong and we’ll be saying Peldor Joi again soon.
