Did you know John Waters did stand-up? Well, he kinda doesn’t, so when a joke of his bombs he can shrug it off and just call it a “lecture.”
Basically a revisitation of his career with bon mots a-plenty and some shocking observations along the way, there are some very choice zingers in here. There are also some uncomfortable moments of silence from the audience. Some of this devolves into “I heard THIS crazy thing said the other day – isn’t this crazy?!?” But when he talks about his parents’ reaction to his work it is seriously amusing. It’s also good to know that he has a sense of humor about his current mainstream musical status.
