It has been a long time since my father turned me on to good, new music, but I must say I am impressed with Jamie Cullum. This handsome, young Brit plays slightly-jazzy standards with what can only be called a rock-n-roll attitude. This presents itself finely on tunes like “I Get A Kick Out Of You” and “I Could Have Danced All Night.” It is a little bit pointless, though, on the cover of Jeff Buckley’s “Lover, I Should Have Come Over.” Nevertheless, the version of “Singin’ In The Rain” is absolutely inspired and the cover of Radiohead’s “High and Dry” is sublime. The sprinking of original tunes aren’t too shabby either.
