Gorgeous black & white cinematography and basic moral quandries against the backdrop of a small Polish city trying to pick itself up after the trauma of war. How does a new society create itself? Do you keep fighting for what you believe in? Is it time, now, to begin human relationships? Do we just drink ourselves into oblivion? Do we wear our cool sunglasses, even inside, if we are a young anti-Communist assassin? (Answer: And how.) Something of a cold war classic that, no doubt, means much more if you are from that part of the world, but still very engaging.
