Here lies Voyager in its perfectly symptomatic state. It isn’t bad, it just disappoints.

We have a premise that would have fit in nicely on TOS – problems create twin ships, each powered from the same energy source. How can they both escape and survive? They can’t, at least not without some serious thinking. Janeway must join forces with Janeway, but things get bogged down with technobabble and too many stray characters.

In the end we have a destroyed “sister ship” and the “other” Harry Kim comes to replace our dead one. Hats off for the uncharacteristically winking final exchange:

Kim: This isn’t really my ship and you’re not really my captain and yet you are and there’s no difference. But I know there’s a difference. Or is there? It’s all a little weird.

Janeway: Mr. Kim, we’re Starfleet officers. Weird is part of the job.

  1. This one just left me absolutely sick. A whole nother ship and crew just DIE, and…NO ONE CARES?! “WEIRD IS PART OF THE JOB?” DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY FEELINGS?

To me this was FAR MORE of an insult to the viewer than Threshold.
