Lt. Yar, you are out of here!

I remember seeing this when it was first produced and being kinda shocked — TV shows didn’t just kill off characters like that. The one thing you could always count on with a TV show is that things will always work out in the end, right? Not so much, here. And it isn’t just that Yar gets killed, it is the WAY she gets killed. Good guys dodge bullets and stuff all day long. Here, the sludge monster just gives her a slap and, poof, she’s dead.

Anyway, the rest of this episode is absolutely ridiculous. An evil slime monster who just wants to be hugged. . .or something like that. The voice-over of Mr. Slime is so bad it is comical. It sounds like when a little kid is playing and wants to sound like a ghost. Hilarious, so, for camp value, yes, classic.
