Remembered by many as one of the goofier episodes. . .until they remember the one with Abraham Lincoln. The “amusement park” planet that sucks thoughts from your mind, allegedly for fun, has Sulu being chased by a samurai, the young woman recently widowed in “Balance of Terror” being raped by Don Juan, and Kirk running befoul of an Irishman. Woomph. Then McCoy dies and comes back with two hotties wearing only bits of a “Monsters Inc.” Halloween costume. Double woomph.
That hottie in the monsters inc costume is my aunty.
lol

Come on now! This was a creative idea. A little on the LSD side I admit but goofy? I don’t agree.
It was pure Trek. Funny with seriousness to. I believe they call it serial-comedy???

I missed something you stated in your synopsis. it was not in fact the widowed woman who was raped. The rapee’ as it were was Yeoman Barrows. The woman who was widowed was named Angela in this episode and was killed by a straffing WW2 war plane. We have to assume she was brought back to life as well as McCoy. But we never saw her again in that episode.

Angela can be seen briefly in the background as Spock hands over Sarahs beautiful “hottie aunty” to Sulu and says he’ll go back to the ship. (A longer scene was edited out) I really like this episode, aliens who manipulate energy into matter patterns is perfectly believable
and humans not understanding would naturally get into trouble
it’s an enjoyable story, well told with good jokes throughout and Finnegan is utterly fabulous!
